Ten students from Calvert Hall traveled to St. Marc, Haiti, during their spring break. While in Haiti the students ran a camp for 30 fourth graders each morning from 8:30 a.m. – 12 p.m.

The ten boys planned and ran all the activities themselves. They taught the kids English, played games and did arts and crafts.

Each day after camp the group explored Haiti. They visited rural areas of St. Marc, James Stine College and a new housing community for refugees from Port-au-Prince.

To show their appreciation for the opportunity the students wrote a thank you card to Dr. Mortel, which can be seen below.

When I first heard you talk at Calvert Hall I didn’t realize the extent of your words. Now that I am here in Haiti I stand in awe of your work, you’re a truly inspiring role model and I wish to be more like you.” – wrote Jack

“You are a true missionary and disciple of Jesus and an example to us all.” – wrote Justin
